CROOKED TALK FROM THE EMERGING CHURCH TROJAN HORSE

Apprising Ministries is a leading online apologetics and discernment work which, among other disturbing trends within apostatizing evangelicalism, keeps you aware of the devious goings on within the sinfully ecumenical neo-liberal cult of the Emergent Church aka the Emerging Church.

I also recently showed you in The Emerging Church Is Unaware It’s Dead, that far from being deceased, there is now an upgraded Emerging Church 2.0 complete with its newer, more clearly delineated, “big tent” postmodern Progressive Christian theology—a Liberalism 2.0—these rebels against the final authority of God’s Word often refer to as Emergence Christianity.

With this in mind, let me remind you that  Jonathan Brink is kind of a “B list” name in EC circles whom I’ve introduced you to before e.g. in Deconstructing The Emerging Imagination Of Jonathan Brink. Therein I told you Brink is the author of  Discovering The God Imagination: Reconstructing A Whole New Christianity, which is yet another EC attack on the penal substitutionary atonement attempting to pass itself off as something new.

The original Cult of Liberal Theology led that charge decades ago; yet even so, along this line today Brink tweets:

The link takes us to Straight From The Horses Mouth over at Brink’s blog where he wanted us to read the following quote:

“Some people are deeply suspicious because those in the emerging movement tend to be pluralistic, they believe that God is bigger than any particular theology,” Corcoran said.  (Online source)

Corcoran is Kevin Corcoran, involved with the book Church in the Present Tense; he tells us that:

“It’s the first book on the emerging church written by four Ph.Ds,” said Corcoran, who is a professor of philosophy at Calvin College. “Most books on the emerging church are written primarily by practitioners, but this book is written by four academics.” He calls it a “critical analysis” of the emerging church written by himself, Peter Rollins, Scot McKnight and Jason Clark. (Online source)

Although other “name” academics and bloggers e.g. Dr. Anthony Bradley, who asked What will Rev. Ken Silva do now?, wish it would go away, this is obviously vindication for people like myself who’ve been telling you all along that the EC is very much alive and well. After-all, it would be rather difficult to be church in the present tense if it was dead.

Brink then adds to Corcoran’s quote the tired mantra of postmodern progessive Christianity: “I don’t know about you but I sincerely hope God is bigger than my theology. What do you think?” Well, since he asked; I think God has revealed of Himself what He wanted us to know about Him in His inerrant, infallible, Word i.e. Holy Scripture.

Therefore, any theology that’s shaped by the Bible, in context and rightly interpreted, accurately represents the size of our infinite Creator God that He needs us to have of Him. This is how you put to rest that ol’ worn out chestnut; and as far as the comment above from Kevin Corcoran, who considers himself among “critical insiders” of the Emerging Church, I’ll set that myth straight as well.

As a long-time observer and critic of the EC, informed people are deeply grieved because those in the emerging movement—as with classic liberalism—are moving beyond mere syncretistic pluralism and embracing universalism; and furthermore, under the circus big tent this counterfeit version of the Christian faith has grown into a neo-liberal cult, complete with it’s denial of cardinal doctirnes of the Christian faith, it’s own leaders, and it’s own postmodern progressive/liberal theology.

I’llwarn you again, you embrace these false prophets at your own peril.
