THE LATE KEN SILVA’S MISSION OF APPRISING MINISTRIES

In 2008 Ken wrote:

This time in which we find ourselves is one of rapid change, revisionist history and so-called “postmodernism.” Is it any wonder that people wonder what to believe, and even who they can trust? Today faithful believers in Christ face more and more pressure to be “politically correct” — which in the end is simply a mask for relativism. And while the nature of God, and the beautiful simplicity of His Gospel remain the same, the cornucopia of attacks leveled at our Lord’s Church by the enemy are increasingly fierce and constantly changing.

Apprising Ministries [at one time was a] non-profit and tax-exempt labor extending as a fully integrated auxiliary from Connecticut River Baptist Church (CRBC). Rooted in classic, historic, orthodox Christian theology, AM, as in Awaken—It’s Morning, is actually to be a bit similar to the type of ministry done by Dr. Walter Martin (1928-1989), founder of the Christian Research Institute, only in an updated fashion.

The idea is to also handle Contemplative Spirituality/Mysticism, apostate Roman Catholicism as well as to deal with issues related to semi-pelagian postevangelicalism and the postliberalism of the Emergent Church in addition to counter-cult evangelism.

AM is the vision of [the late] Rev. Ken Silva, an ordained SBC minister. [Ken felt he was led of the Lord to] move beyond the typical “plus-minus” type of apologetic so common today and to return to more of the aggressive polemic an Irenaeus might use. Although what is written at AM may often be quite blunt, considering the time of rampant apostasy in which we now live, this also is by design.

It needs to be understood that in Special Ops often unconventional warfare techniques become the norm. In addition, Christian Research Network is an outreach extending from Apprising Ministries [that had] multiple volunteer contributors under Silva’s ministerial supervision as General Editor, four of which are also pastor-teachers themselves as he is. [Note: Marsha West is the current owner of Apprising Ministries and Christian Research Network.]

The leadership team of CRBC oversees both AM and CRN along with a seven man board of directors. [Board member names withheld]

The goal with both AM and CRN is to provide sound reasons to believe in Jesus, the Christ as well as to defend the faith once delivered unto the saints from enemy attacks within the Church and from without. Apprising Ministries is also designed to be an aid to local Christian churches in furthering the Kingdom of God through sound biblical doctrine so that more and more believers will be able to live out the Lord’s mandate of Jude 3 to — earnestly contend for the faith.

The Lord be praised that through the growing organization at AM, Ken Silva also has the extreme privilege of personally advising numerous pastors and leaders within many churches all across the country. So we are quite pleased to point out that the labors in the Lord of Ken Silva extend well beyond his more controversial work in Christ here on the Internet at Apprising Ministries.
