…in like manner these people also, relying on their dreams, defile the flesh, reject authority, and blaspheme the glorious ones. (Jude 8)

Don’t Look Now; But They’re Here

Apprising Ministries has been maintaining that Mainstream Evangelicalism Is Now On The Rapid Slide To Apostasy because of its ongoing embrace of the sinfully ecumenical neo-liberal cult of the Emergent Church aka the Emerging Church.

You need to know that it hasn’t died, it’s morphed into the EC 2.0 with its postmodern Progressive Christian theology, which these rebels against the final authority of the Word of God will often refer to under their silly circus “big tent” as Emergence Christianity.

Tragically, this EC was actually a Trojan Horse containing a full-on semi-pelagian (at best) uprising against sola Scriptura designed to unload its highly subjective Contemplative Spirituality/Mysticism (CSM) ala Living Spiritual Teacher and Quaker mystic Richard Foster and his spiritual twin Dallas Willard[1]

One sad effect is EC heroes e.g. Tony Jones [2] opening the door to the mainstream of the evangelical commuinity for obvious apostates like his good friend gay affirming “pastor” Jay Bakker. [3] His stupid shtick is to advance The Emerging Church Pro-Gay Agenda.

The idea is that such as these are gunning to make a lifestyle of having sexual relations with another of the same sex, i.e homosexuality, a viable one for the Christian. The main point being, they now say that those who’re in so-called monogamous, and supposedly life-long, relationships with their same-sex partner are not in sin.

Now you understand their almost maniacal push for same-sex marriage and why I even have to cover this issue at all. I’ll tell you again, from monitoring Intel along the Internet Front, I’m warning you that the younger sectors of mainstream evanjellyfish are infected with EC cancer, which has eaten away at their faith in the all-sufficiency of Scripture.

At the same time the insideous spiritual disease of CSM is seriously clouding their critical thinking skills as well. So no longer are people coming to grips with what God has said about the sexual immorality of homosexuality in the Bible, and it’s as clear as it gets. No, now we are going by what we “feel” God should have said; and guess what, they sense it’s not sin.

You think I overstate; just last Sunday I was talking about this with my local church. All of a sudden one of the members, a young man who’s active in youth ministry in the community where I pastor, told me this is already happening here. It turns out that someone in the largest evangelical church in town has just come out openly gay and the leadership is split whether this person is in sin.

That’s why the faithful pastor is calling to you — “Stand by the roads, and look, and ask for the ancient paths, where the good way is; and walk in it, and find rest for your souls” (Jeremiah 6:16). The wise will know that there is no place for originality in the historic, orthodox, Christian faith that was once for all delivered to the saints (Jude 3).

Now I can point you to a piece over at The Christian Post by Christine Thomasos entitled Bishop Gene Robinson Warns of Spiritual Arrogance Towards Homosexuals where we’re told:

Gene Robinson, the Episcopal Church’s first openly gay bishop, conducted an adult faith forum Sunday [July 17] at the Episcopal Church of the Advent in Louisville, KY. The Episcopal Church orchestrated an adult faith forum to discuss issues surrounding homosexualit and its role in Christianity on Sunday. (Online source)

Homosexuality has no place in Christianity; nor does any other sin. This isn’t to say Christians never sin; we do, but Robinson is living in open and unrepentant homosexual sin. Thomasos goes on to tell us:

Bishop V. Gene Robinson, ordained in 2004 as an openly homosexual clergyman, spoke to a group of 50 people about the importance of heterosexuals avoiding the adoption of superior attitudes towards gay Christians. (Online source)

Please know that this is not to be construed as my being disparaging toward Thomaos; however, we’ve just stepped into the skubalon of postmodern Humpty Dumpty language. In the real world, there is no such thing as “an openly homosexual clergyman.” No one in open and unrepentant flagrant sin can be ordained to Christian ministry.

Those Who Dare To Claim To Be Christian And Defy God’s Word Are The Arrogant Ones

Talk about spiritual “superior attitudes”; exactly who is Gene Robinson, a reprobate in rebellion against God, to pontificate? Again, HD language alert: “gay Christians.” By this oxymoron he means unregenerate LGBT people who, like him, are having sexual relations with members of the same-sex; a sin of sexual immorality because it will always be outside God’s marriage covenant.

Next Thomasos tells us Robinson opined:

“I know Jesus to be the son of God, but what a small, limited God we would have if that was the only manifestation.” Robinson said. “I think Christians should stay away from spiritual arrogance and show more love, mercy and zeal for justice.” (Online source)

Huh? Jesus is the unique monogenes (i.e. one of a kind) manifestation of God, the only God-Man; talk about spiritual pride. This is a perfect example of the emerging arrogance of these postmodern liberals like Gene Robinson who defy their Creator and yet have the audacity to try and lecture His Church. So who’s teaching that Christians should engage in spiritual arrogance?

It’s more smoke and mirrors attempting to obscure the fact that apostates (at best) like Gene Robinson are attempting to penetrate the mainstream of the spiritually spineless evanjellyfish community. Truly, I told you that it’s only a matter of time before they detonate this highly divisive issue right within the heart of the visible church. For example, consider Christian Post covering this story.

Thomasos brings out that:

Although Robinson married a woman in 1972 and had two daughters with her, he later divorced and openly admitted his homosexuality in the 1980s. In 1988, Robinson met and moved in with his homosexual life partner Mark Andrew.

After being elected to become bishop in the Diocese of New Hampshire in 2003, Robinson received death threats. Although he was later granted the position, Robinson spoke to the Episcopal Church of the Advent in Louisville about the trying times that God helped him overcome.

“I just knew my life in the church was over,” he said. “At that time there was no openly gay person serving at my diocese. But I felt God calling me to out, and God was there every step of the way.” (Online source)

No genuine Christian would threaten Robinson with death; but at the same time, we know for sure that God is absolutely not behind Robinson’s ordination. It’s time to face facts; to his shame, Robinson is the one showing spiritual arrogance; he’s really but a self-appointed mocker of the Christian faith who has the unmitigated gall to pretend to be a minister of the Gospel of Jesus Christ.

Here’s the heart of the matter: Without sola Scriptura one is on the postmodern playing field of existential and highly subjective experience where there are no rules, i.e. evangelicalism is now virtually defenseless against slimy spiritual snakes like Gene Robinson. You must learn to separate this from the fact that on a human level he does seem to be a nice man; a nearly perfect counterfeit.

For the time is near when you’ll need to decide just how it is that you plan to respond when openly homosexual “Christ-followers” such as Gene Robinson are being held up as acceptable role models for your own evangelical Christian youth. And in articles e.g. like Affirming Christian Network, Philip Yancey, And Gay Christian Network you’ll be able to get some idea of what you’re up against.
