CALLID KEEFE-PERRY, QUAKERISM, AND THE FUTURE OF EVANGELICALISM

Apprising Ministries is a leading online apologetics and discernment work that’s been tracking the Emerging Church along the Internet Front of the Truth War for six years now. [1]

Just a little over a year ago in pieces like The Emerging Church Pushing Progressive Theology In Google Era and Ken Silva Answers Philip Clayton you can see AM came up on the radar screen in covering, and being critical of, a recent EC progressive theology heresy-fest called Theology After Google (TAG). [2]

One of the speakers at TAG was “educator, artist, community builder, and Quaker mystic Callid Keefe-Perry, whom I previously discussed in Callid Keefe-Perry, Ken Silva, And Theology After Google.

Below is the video of his TAG presentation, where he teaches about the universal “Christ within—however you would name it” already present in all of mankind in his mystic mythology.

You will also see that Keefe-Perry references something I had written in order to mock it:

Even so, the fact is, Callid Keefe-Perry happens to be an engaging and sharp guy. Today he would tweet:

You know from recent articles like Alabama Baptist Convention (SBC) Encourages You To Learn Lectio Divina From Apostate Tony Jones and Lifeway Encouraging Southern Baptists To Practice Lectio Divina about the awful spread of Counter Reformation spirituality into the heart of the church visible.

Notice that this antibiblical approach to experiencing God has even slithered its way deeply into the Southern Baptist Convention, which is the largest largely pretending to be Protestant denomination in the United States. Silly SBC optimism aside, in the coming days you will see this will come with devastating effects.

It’s simply betond question that the main perpetrator of this highly subjective Contemplative Spirituality/Mysticism (CSM) is the Living Spiritual Teacher and Quaker mystic Richard Foster; he gets a psuedo-intellectual assist from his spiritual twin, and Southern Baptist minister, Dallas Willard[3]

The main reason why I want you to make the time to check out the video by Callid Keefe-Perry below, if you can stomach it, is because as a Quaker he will give you a very accurate history of cultish Quakers. You’ll also find out why mysticism is at the corrupt core of this movement hostile to the Bible.

As you listen to Keefe-Perry, see if you don’t hear many of the same ideas, and much of the terminology, that you hear right now from evangelical mystics blindly following the blindness of Foster-Willardism; such as Rob Bell, the iconic Emerging Church pastor of the Love Wins universalism mythology.

Well, how do you think he got there; from the Bible, absolutely not. He got there through the delusion that eventually comes to everyone who persists in the practices of CSM and Foster-Williardism. One finally breaks through the supposed dark night of the soul into the “revelation” of God’s dream of all people to be one.

Behold the future of spiritually spineless evanjellyfish now adrift without the anchor of Holy Scripture…

End Notes:

BACK TO POST 1 — Much of what’s now happening in the mainstream of the visible church can be traced back to a foolish decision on the part of evangelical leaders to embrace the sinfully ecumenical neo-liberal cult of the Emergent Church aka the Emerging Church, which has now been upgraded to the Emerging Church 2.0—with its newer, more clearly delineated, postmodern Progressive Christian theology. Underneath their circus “big tent” form of universalism these rebels against the final authority of the Word of God will often refer to this as Emergence Christianity.

BACK TO POST 2 — TAG was put on by Dr. Philip Clayton as a way to begin rallying troops to help spread that new form of Progressive Christianity—Liberalism 2.0—he’s currently cobbling together with men like his friends Harvey Cox and Emergent Church leader Brian McLaren.

BACK TO POST 3 — CSM, as taught by the dubious duo of Foster and Willard, is merely repackaged Roman Catholic mysticism. It’s generally advanced in evangelical churches as so-called Spiritual Formation. I told you e.g. in Tim Keller And Contemplative Pastrix Adele Calhoun that the crown jewel of CSM is a form of meditation in an altered state of consciousness known as Contemplative/Centering Prayer (CCP).
