Holding fast the faithful word which is in accordance with the teaching, so that he will be able both to exhort in sound doctrine and to refute those who contradict. (Titus 1:9, NASB)

Can Two Walk Together, Except They Be Agreed?

Apprising Ministries has brought to your attention the recently concluded Christianity 21 (C 21) conference of the egregiously ecumenical Emerging Church aka Emergent Church de-formation of the Christian faith—now morphing into Emergence Christianity (EC). Just yesterday Tony Jones—heretical “theologian in residence” at the EC of his equally heretical quasi-universalist pastor Doug Pagitt—wrote a short post called Looking Back on Christianity21 at his blog at the interspiritual toilet Beliefnet.

Jones wanted us to know:

If you want to find out about the nuts and bolts of C21, see this link for mui links, names, books, etc… And you can read about all of the presenters here.  I dare not single out any of the presentations, since so many of them were so, so good… (Online source)

Among these “presenters” at this EC apostasia-palooza C 21 were “queer inclusive” ELCA “pastor” Nadia Bolz-Weber and the Empress of the EC Phyllis Tickle. But what is of interest here in this piece is the following from Jones about one he’s now “fast friends” with:

Since I haven’t named any of the women in this post, I won’t name the guys either, with one exception: Jay Bakker stayed at my house for a week, and we became fast friends. He’s an exceptional human being. (Online source)

If you read AM e.g. Jay Bakker Featured On Ooze.TV Of Emerging Church you’ll know that the EC is now more openly endorsing Bakker, though he’s been known in EC circles since the mid to late 90’s. If you don’t know, as I showed in Meet Outlaw Preachers, gay affirming “pastor” Jay Bakker has found his niche working his homopressive shtick as leader of a bawdy bunch of largely Biblically illiterate folk who call themselves outlaw preachers. It’s interesting to note that pastrix Bolz-Weber has proudly aligned herself with these false preachers turning the grace of our God into licentiousness (Jude 4).

But The Plank Of Evangelicalism You’re Standing On Is Rotting Out Beneath You

What you need to understand is this EC is a cult of a postliberalism growing within evangelicalism itself now; a Liberalism 2.0 which comes complete with the virus of Contemplative Spirituality/Mysticism (CSM) that goes to work shorting out critical reasoning skills. The truth is that the EC learned well from its evil forebears in the original cult of liberalism and for years now the EC followed its methodology and has been busy embedding itself within evangelical publishing houses, seminaries, and denominational structures.

One need only look at the growing acceptance within mainstream evangelicalism of the Elvis of the Emerging Church Rob Bell to see how far the influence of the EC has stretched because, whether intentional or not, Bell has been a key player in advancing its theology despite openly promoting CSM and even using teachings by New Age priestess Marianne Williamson as you can see for yourself in Through Rob Bell “The Great Enlightened Ones” Tell Us Man Has Divine Greatness. The point is not that Bell thought it was from Nelson Mandela, it’s that Bell then uses it in his own sermon on CSM.

Now that very astute EC leaders like Tony Jones and Brian McLaren, who when Bakker was struggling a while back took Bakker into his home, can see they that have the power in place you will be able to watch them begin to come out of the closet. And one of the pet causes of the EC is the full evangelical acceptance that GLBTQ people, unrepentantly having sexual relations with another of the same sex i.e homosexuality, are not in sin; but rather, the gay affirming argue that this is also a viable lifestyle for the Christian.

This is why in posts like Ex-Homosexual Friend Of Apprising Ministries I’ve been warning that there’s a very dark and threatening same-sex storm right now approaching hurricane force, which is currently only slightly off the coast of your own local church. As you can see in Emergence Christianity—A Postliberal Cult Slithers Into Evangelicalism through this spurious CSM, rooted in the Counter Reformation of apostate Roman Catholicism, the EC has largely kicked out the pillar of Sola Scriptura—particularly in your Young Adult and Youth ministries.

Sleep on if you want to, but without Sola Scriptura one is on the postmodern playing field of existential and highly subjective experience where there are no rules i.e. evangelicalism is defenseless against these vipers. And as I posed in Rev. Megan Rohrer On Gay Rights Movement, who happens to be a transgendered renegade ELCA pastrix, the time is near when you’ll need to decide just how it is that you plan to respond when openly homosexual “Christ-followers” such as “reverend” Rohrer are being held up as acceptable role models for your own evangelical Christian youth.

Which brings us back now to Jay Bakker, who for the past two days has been all a-twitter tweeting:

Today is going to be a awesome one at Open Door Community Church fall conference http://tinyurl.com/yz9sd3x (Online source)

More Spiritual Peas Postulating Myths From Within The Same Corrupt Pod

Now the above links from Bakker will take you to the index page for Open Door Community Church (ODCC), “a non-denominational Christian church” supposedly “serving Little Rock and Central Arkansas” where Bakker, and apparently his assistant “pastor” Vince Anderson, are at something called 2009 Annual Fall Conference (AFC) at ODCC. The conference kicked off yesterday with “special speakers” UMC pastor Rudy Rasmus, who heads St. John’s United Methodist Church along with his wife pastrix Juanita. At his The Pastor Rudy Experience website we learn:

Rudy Rasmus is an emergent messenger, an urban prophet, and global humanitarian with a passion for outreach to our world’s poorest citizens. Pastor Rudy co-pastors the St. John’s United Methodist Church located in Downtown Houston with his wife Juanita…

Pastor Rudy is a monthly contributor to Oprah Winfrey’s “O Magazine ” in an ethics column entitled “Now What Do I Do?” (Online source)

A busy man it turns out that Rasmus is also known as “Kelly Rowland and Beyonce’s pastor” and now even has “a new music project” out called The Pastor Rudy Experience. At the time of this writing at AFC there’s a “Workshop with Bart Campolo,” son of Peggy and Tony Campolo, and then tonight Jay Bakker will be receiving “The Peggy Campolo Carrier Pigeon Award.” However, what you may not realize that ODCC is where Rev. Randy McCain is pastor, along with his associate “pastor” Sheryl Myers.

Not only is ODCC a gay affirming church social club, but McCain is an openly gay man who tell us he’s in a lifelong loving, committed relationship with Gary Eddy. And right in line with what I was talking about above, sure enough, “pastor” McCain also shares his theology based upon his subjective feelings:

God never said anything against loving, committed relationships between people of the same gender. The only time I could find that the Bible spoke about same-gender sex was always referring to a lust-filled act of selfish sexual gratification at the expense of another person. I was slowly beginning to feel that our Creator made us the way we are, and that God does not have a problem with gay people forming loving, committed relationships that are Christ-centered. (Online source)

Sorry about that Mr. McCain but such an animal doesn’t exist; in articles e.g. like The Sin Of Homosexuality Is Different I have clearly shown that same-sex sexual relations will always be outside of Jesus’ definition of marriage. As I’ve previously pointed out, Jesus of Nazareth—our Creator—Who, by the way, is speaking from the perspective of an eyewitness, defines marriage when He informs us:

But from the beginning of creation, ‘God made them male and female. Therefore a man shall leave his father and mother and hold fast to his wife, and the two shall become one flesh.’ So they are no longer two but one flesh.’ ”  (Mark 10:6-8, ESV)

My advice is that you’d best get ready for such specious arguments because this issue is about to detonate within the walls of evangelical churches where EC advocates have already been planted. Or do you really think that it’s simply some odd coincidence that Brian McLaren, he of the five year moratorium and close friend of the Campolos, spoke at ODCC in 2006? And in addition to giving the Fall Conference Keynote Address – September 16, 2005, Bakker has spoken at ODCC many times as you’ll see here at their Special Messages and Guest Speakers page.

I’ll close this, for now, with the “first video for Gay Christian Answers, a regular series from The Gay Christian Network” so you can get some idea of what you’re up against. Here I’ll also mention that Rick Brentlinger of Gay Christian 101 was kind enough to send me on his own his 390 page gay affirming textbook of the same name. We’ve since had a few amiable discussions, and should the Lord allow the funding for me to remain here, I would hope to do some pieces interacting with Brentlinger’s very in-depth book of “Spiritual Self-Defense For Gay Christians.”

But for now, I will simply say to you once again, The Nightmare Is Only Beginning For Mainstream Evangelicalism.
