MUST READ FOR RICK WARREN AND “PROTESTANT” EVANGELICAL LEADERS: ROMAN CATHOLIC CHURCH TEACHING ON SALVATION AND JUSTIFICATION

I am astonished that you are so quickly deserting the one who called you by the grace of Christ and are turning to a different gospel—which is really no gospel at all. Evidently some people are throwing you into confusion and are trying to pervert the gospel of Christ.

But even if we or an angel from heaven should preach a gospel other than the one we preached to you, let him be eternally condemned! As we have already said, so now I say again: If anybody is preaching to you a gospel other than what you accepted, let him be eternally condemned! (Galatians 1:6-9)

Who Says The Protestant Reformation Is Now Over?

In a previous Apprising Ministries post, Rick Warren: “Every facet of Christianity—Including Catholicism”, I mentioned that I am myself a former Roman Catholic whom the Lord graciously delivered from the religious bondage of apostate Roman Catholicism into the glorious liberty of the sons of God. And with most of my paternal family still trapped within its false gospel, i.e. another gospel, things like the following from fellow Southern Baptist pastor Rick Warren then become very personal for me:

“The small group structure is the structure of renewal in every facet of Christianity — including Catholicism.”

Rick Warren, (Pew Forum)

“Now I don’t agree with everything in everybody’s denomination, including my own. I don’t agree with everything that Catholics do or Pentecostals do, but what binds us together is so much stronger than what divides us,” he said. “I really do feel that these people are brothers and sisters in God’s family. I am looking to build bridges with the Orthodox Church, looking to build bridges with the Catholic Church,….”

Rick Warren, (Pittsburgh Post-Gazette)

The Church, in all its expressions—Catholic, Evangelical, Pentecostal, Protestant and many others—has 2.3 billion followers.”

Rick Warren, (Forbes)

And not only has Warren stated the above, but as I point out in Rick Warren Turns His Back on the Martyred Reformers, in their lust for a false unity with other men many other evangelical non-protesting “Protestants,” along with Warren, have also turned their backs on brothers in Christ who were murdered according to “infallible” orders from very fallible popes in the Roman Catholic Church.

For example Rick Warren is on record controverting these dear Reformers raised up by God when he affirms, “I see absolutely zero reason in separating my fellowship from anybody” (Online source). As we consider all of the above we can see with crystalline clairity that these words of Warren serve to toss ecumenical excrement upon the precious blood of men like, e.g. John Hus, Hugh Latimer and Nicolas Ridley.

These Church Reformers and brave Christians were burned alive at the stake by despicable decrees of reprehensible Roman popes in order that they might protect their man-loving kingdom of sand. And so the following piece really should be required reading for ecumenicists like Warren, who is arguably the most influential pastor in the Southern Baptist Convention, which is itself supposedly a Protestant denomination.

It happens to be my contention that all of this has an awful lot to do with the adulterous evangelical affair with The Cult of Guru Richard Foster and the corrupt Contemplative Spirituality/Mysticism (CSM) of this current fad in the American Christian Church for spurious Spiritual Formation. And in Rick Warren and Saddleback Church: Prayer Is Not For The Novice I showed you already, with the pictures to prove it within, that one of the most significant SBC churches—possibly in the world—itself makes this decidedly anti-Reformation CSM available.

So this is why I, for one, praise our glorious and majestic and great and mighty Lord that William Webster throws frigid water on the current evangelical romance with the Church of Rome when he correctly points out:

Roman Catholic theology does not embrace the interpretation of salvation and justification as that presented by Scripture and the Protestant Reformers. The Roman Church does teach that we are justified by grace through faith on account of Christ. What is missing, however, is the word alone. By omitting this word the Roman Church redefines grace, faith and justification in a way that undermines and invalidates the teaching of Scripture. This will become clear as we examine the specific definitions given these terms by the official Magisterium of the Church of Rome…

The Roman Catholic teaching on salvation is essentially the same as that preached by the Judaizers. Paul warned the Galatian believers that if they embraced this false gospel they would actually desert Christ (Gal. 1:6). Those evangelicals who would promote spiritual cohabitation with the Church of Rome need to heed to the warning of Paul. He saw no basis for unity with the Judaizers even though they professed faith in Christ. Likewise, there is no basis for unity with the Church of Rome today. If evangelicals jettison the Reformation gospel distinctives for so called unity with Rome they will deny Christ.

Now let me plainly point out something to Rick Warren and all the other compromisers involved with this egregious ecumenical evangelical love-in with the apostate Roman Catholic Church. Please hear me good when I say to you that most certainly you may rest assured, as long as men like me are breathing, this Protestant Reformation will not die. Soli Deo Gloria!
