PHYLLIS TICKLE PREACHES FOR MARS HILL BIBLE CHURCH AND ROB BELL

DOWN WITH SOLA SCRIPTURA!

RELIGIOUS DOCTRINE ITSELF NO LONGER DUE RESPECT...NEVER AGAIN

For those who guide this people are leading them astray; And those who are guided by them are brought to confusion. (Isaiah 9:16, NASB)

If A Little Leaven Ruins The Whole; What About A Whole Movement That’s Full Of It?

Apprising Ministries first mentioned this in Rob Bell, Peter Rollins And Phyllis Tickle Together Advancing Emergence Christianity. You need to realize that here is by no means some guilt-by-association as we clearly show the actual association of these people perpetrating together the advance of apostate Emergence Christianity. This supposed “new reformation” [read: de-formation] is every bit as apostate and spiritually spurious as Roman Catholicism was—and still is—when Martin Luther stood hammer in hand.

It really shouldn’t come as any great surprise when we consider that, with its core doctrine of highly subjective—and experience-oriented—Contemplative Spirituality/Mysticism (CSM), the Emerging Church actually advances a form of neo-Gnosticism where they believe they receive superior knowledge of God through their CSM; thereby negating Sola Scriptura. Emergent Church Guru Brian McLaren told you right up front that Living Spiritual Teacher and Quaker mystic Richard Foster, along with his spiritual twin Dallas Willard, were “key mentors.”

We also brought to your attention that Dr. Gary Gilley, pastor of Southern View Chapel, has rightly referred to Foster’s magum opus Celebration of Discipline as “a virtual encyclopedia of theological error.” And yet this CSM spread by Foster et al continues to spread as quickly as an Oklahoma wildfire even within mainstream evangelicalism. A case in point would be the recent book The Attentive Life: Discerning God’s Presence In All Things (ATL) by Leighton Ford. That false idea is the very hallmark of the teachings of Ignatius of Loyola, founder of the spiritual Gestapo unit the Jesuits.

In his review of ATL Gilley then informs us:

Ford is best known as an effective evangelist who has been closely associated with Billy Graham.  Throughout his long ministry (he is now approaching 80) he has had the reputation of one who preached an uncompromising gospel message, even if some of his ecclesiastical associations were compromised in the process.  It would appear that it has been these compromised associations that has led to Ford’s spiritual position as outlined in this book.

The Attentive Life gets top-billing in the recent advertisement release by InterVarsity Press promoting the formatio series of books which they claim “follow the rich tradition of the church in the journey of spiritual formation” (p. 229).  What is really taking place is that, under the banner of “spiritual formation,” formatio is flooding the evangelical world with Roman Catholic practices and theology.  InterVarsity is hardly alone in this effort, but perhaps rapidly becoming the leader… (Online source)

This is the necessary background needed to begin to understand that there is indeed an Emerging Church agenda to further penetrate apostatizing mainstream evangelicalism with their highly ecumenical, quite inclusive, and postliberal message of quasi-universalism, which is exactly why a month ago Rob Bell requested that Phyllis Tickle come preach again for Mars Hill Bible Church (MHBC) where he’s “teaching pastor.”  Tickle fills us in as she begins her May 3 message A Treasure We Don’t Understand:

I’m back at the invitation of your clergy because we’re getting ready, in your series, to talk about the feminine side of the Holy Spirit. Ah, and Rob and Matt, and your clergy, asked if I would come do that. (Online source, :057-1:11)

As previously pointed out, this is not the first time that MHBC has had Tickle in to preach to them. Those interested can listen to Tickle’s 6/28/08 sermon Ancient Disciplines of the Church at the MHBC Odeo channel. There you’ll hear Tickle lavish praise upon MHBC as she then goes on to tell us that she attends ”what’s called an Emergent Church; it’s actually an Anglo-emergent church.” This is why she says she felt right at “home” at MHBC (see—Amos 3:3).

For more on “Anglicans engaging emerging church” you can see the Anglimergent website of Emergent Church “pastor” Abbess/Vicar/Priest/New Monastic Karen Ward. So in case you missed it before, below I give you the deconstruction of Tickle’s mystical myth-filled message at MHBC done by my friend, Christian apologist Chris Rosebrough on his Fighting for the Faith podcast. For those who may not know, Rosebrough also has the online discernment and apologetics ministries A Little Leaven and Extreme Theology, and is proprietor of Pirate Christian Radio as well.
