WORRYING TREND: RICK WARREN AND THE PURPOSE DRIVEN LIFE OF APOSTASY

In the introduction to his link to my article here at Apprising Ministries called It’s Official: America’s Pastor Rick of the Purpose Driven Church May Not Be A Christian my friend Daniel Chew is very right when he says, “we need to exercise extreme caution when talking about another’s salvation.”

For it is written, “I WILL DESTROY THE WISDOM OF THE WISE, AND THE CLEVERNESS OF THE CLEVER I WILL SET ASIDE.” Where is the wise man? Where is the scribe? Where is the debater of this age? Has not God made foolish the wisdom of the world? For since in the wisdom of God the world through its wisdom did not come to know God, God was well-pleased through the foolishness of the message preached to save those who believe. (1 Corinthians 1: 19-21, NASB)

A Spirit-Directed Cross-Continental Friendship As Brothers In Christ

For those who wish to know how I came to know Chew who lives in Singapore I refer you to the piece Daniel Chew: Christian Friendship. For those who don’t know Chew has written an excellent book called Driven Away by Purpose where he literally tears apart the Purpose Driven Deception put forth by Rick Warren. Although not many know about this book…yet…because Daniel is an “nobody,” I assure you that if you really want to know the twisted Arminianism at the root of the PDL then this book will be of great value to you and I recommend it highly.

Concerning my current article Chew continues:

but Rick Warren has committed so many sins against the Church, against fellow Christians, against the Word of God, and against ultimately God Himself so blatently and without remorse for so long that it is evident that his heart is hardened against God, and thus it is right to question his salvation.

What is also of value here in Chew’s post and why I draw attention to it is he also says, “Since we are on this topic, I would like to post the summary report of my review of Rick Warren’s sermon during his ‘PDC tour’ in Singapore 2006. Here it is:”

From this review of Pastor Warren’s message, many troubling signs can be seen. Warren’s promotion of the Neo-Apostolic heresy and his subtle hint of an embracing of Word-faith heresy are particularly disturbing. His revivalist tendencies reminiscent of the Pelagian arch-heretic Charles Grandison Finney, together with his neo-liberal socialist tendencies in promoting a new ‘evangelical’ social gospel exposes him as a false teacher.

And with the Southern Baptist Convention actively protecting and even promoting man-pleasing men like Rick Warren and Emergent Church futurist and cultural architect Erwin McManus I see all the more reason to wonder Is the Southern Baptist Convention Itself Filling Up With “Dead Churches”? You can also read the rest of Daniel Chew’s insightful assessment of Rick Warren: The New Charles Finney right here.
