This short Apprising Ministries piece builds upon The Truth and the Deceived by my friend and fellow Christian Research Net contributor Mike Ratliff. Mike begins by saying: 

The prevalent lie dominating the emergent “Church” is that the Gospel is defined differently than it is clearly set down in God’s Word. Of course, this should be no surprise since Sacred Scripture tells us plainly that the genuine Gospel is folly or foolishness to those who are perishing.

I know that some are saying that the emergents are genuine Christians and that they are leading the way into a “new reformation,” but if one simply dialogues with any of the emergents for very long about the Gospel it becomes very clear in a hurry that it is a different religion. (Online source)

While as in any cult, there are those who have trusted Jesus as their Savior whom the Spirit has yet to lead out, having personally spoken with many in the egregiously ecumenical Emerging Church aka Emergent Church—morphing into Emergence Christianity (EC)—it is beyond question that the EC is evolving into another religion entirely.

At the same time, if you don’t think men like quasi-universalist Doug Pagitt have their own view of the Christian faith, which they think is the correct one, then you need only consider the title of Pagitt’s most recent book A Christianity Worth Believing.

And for those who bought the lie the EC is so counter-culture, better think again; Pagitt tells us via Twitter:

Note that it’s not a “sermon” or a “teaching” while pastor Pagitt is hawking his book on this tour; no, he refers to it as a “show.” And the link in the top “Tweet” takes us back to Pagitt’s website where he explains further:
