BRIAN MCLAREN'S TRANSLATION OF ACTS AND LUKE

For the time will come when men will not put up with sound doctrine. Instead, to suit their own desires, they will gather around them a great number of teachers to say what their itching ears want to hear. They will turn their ears away from the truth and turn aside to myths.
(2 Timothy 4:3-4)

The Emergent Reimagining Of The Bible

Have you wondered what Emergent Guru Brian McLaren has been up to recently? Well, for one thing he’s been involved in The Voice which was a “project from a team of renowned writers and artists.” And well look at this, it just happens to involve “people like Erwin McManus, Leonard Sweet, Don Miller, Lauren Winner and [of course] Brian McLaren. The goal: Retell the Bible the way it was originally told – through art, poetry, history, and song. And retell it in ways that are contemporary, ancient, literary, challenging and beautiful.”

And Erwin McManus has been telling us that he’s not Emergent. Well, it seems that McManus’ has a good friend in Emergent church planter Andrew Jones . Jones also has another friend in Chris Seay, a leader within the Emerging Church, who is the one who is actually behind this Voice project involving McManus. Guilt by association? Um, yeah.

Also here’s a quick “Winter Update” in McLaren’s own words. Apparently he’s been further honing his next book in order to make a better attempt to twist his warped social gospel into the actual message of Jesus Christ. In addition McLaren’s also been busy reimagining…oops, I mean “translating” Acts and Luke. The Emergent Guru then tells us:

The sequel to Secret Message is nearing completion. We’ve decided to change titles. We’re dropping “Jesus and the Suicide Machine” for a number of reasons, and the new title is (still tentative …) “Everything Must Change: Jesus, Global Crises, and the Revolution of Hope.” It will be out either late 07 or early 08. Also, my translation of Acts (part of “The Voice” project) is available, and Luke will be available soon. It’s gratifying to hear of the warm reception the project is receiving. I know it was a profoundly enriching experience for me to be involved with this project.

And unfortunately the broad path that this wolf in sheep’s clothing is on leads to a place with a whole lot warmer reception as well.
