A LITTLE SOMETHING FOR EMERGING HYPOCRITES

And why beholdest thou the mote that is in thy brother’s eye, but perceivest not the beam that is in thine own eye? Either how canst thou say to thy brother, Brother, let me pull out the mote that is in thine eye, when thou thyself beholdest not the beam that is in thine own eye? Thou hypocrite, cast out first the beam out of thine own eye, and then shalt thou see clearly to pull out the mote that is in thy brother’s eye. (Luke 6:41-42, KJV)

Sin Must Be Sorted Out

Here we have a favorite passage for the emerging hypocrites of this pedantic period in which we now live to hold out to those of us called by the Lord, in this time of spiritual decay, to assist His Church with discernment issues. However, I must say that for those so involved in the Gnostic mysticism of experience over Scripture inherent in the contemplative spirituality of the new evangelical Ecumenical Church of Deceit (ECoD), they show an astoundingly naïve understanding of the ways God interacts with man. Men and women, I am hardly alone in telling you that the end result Contemplative/Centering Prayer is a false sense of love which becomes in effect the worship of man.

True preacher/prophets sent by God however, share the Lord’s hate for hypocrisy. For example, here is John the Baptist interacting with the leaders of the “church” of his day: But when he saw many of the Pharisees and Sadducees coming for baptism, he said to them, “You brood of vipers! Who warned you to flee from the wrath to come?” (Matthew 3:7, ESV) Not exactly your prototypical seeker friendly message, was it? Oops, a little judgmental there, aren’t we John? You should be more loving; you might turn these people off. Today this man, of whom God said – Among those born of women there has not risen anyone greater than John the Baptist (Matthew 11:11), would be told he’d better take the “log” out of his own eye.

Now what about all those sinner sensitive “Christians” who have decided on their own that we shouldn’t risk “division” in the Church by criticizing another believer. The time has arrived for us to ask them: Who says that? It most certainly is not God because He preserved for our edification the example of His Apostle Paul in Galatians 2 as he interacts with his fellow Apostle Peter. Seeing that Peter was being a hypocrite by saying one thing, all the while doing another, Paul tells us – “When Peter came to Antioch, I opposed him to his face, because he was clearly in the wrong” (v.11). This is simply not done nearly enough in the Lord’s Church anymore. Today however, Paul would immediately be told: “You can’t know with certainty that Peter was ‘in the wrong.’ ” So instead the spiritually spineless tell us to “just let God sort it all out.”

But the Bible tells us that He has committed to us the message of reconciliation, and we are therefore Christ’s ambassadors (2 Corinthians 5:19-20). The truth is the Body of Christ has a role to play and what has been obscured today by the counterfeit Christianity of this insipid ECoD is that our Lord has left us here to be His instruments through which He is to “sort it all out.” And when we refuse to obey Him others are then led off-course, verse 13 – The other Jews joined [Peter] in his hypocrisy, so that by their hypocrisy even Barnabas was led astray. Then Paul informs us that since Peter’s hypocrisy had been seen by these others, then he also had to handle the matter publicly – “When I saw that they were not acting in line with the truth of the gospel, I said to Peter in front of them all…” (v.14).

Looking Through The Eyes Of Religion

However, the current situation with this Emergent hypocrisy now infesting the Body of Christ today is that these modern religionists–with the “log” of postmodern non-reasoning in their own eye–have actually reversed the problem they are attempting to correct. As such they simply do not recognize the times in which we live. These phony “followers of Jesus” in the new evangelical ECoD just don’t realize that the Master is currently beginning to judge His Church (see–1 Peter 4:17). Our Lord is now chastising the Body of Christ for the very same thing that He encountered with the religionists of His day upon His earth – “You know how to interpret the appearance of the sky, but you cannot interpret the signs of the times” (Matthew 16:3). You may trust me when I tell you that this is no time to be timid spiritually. Perhaps like never before the Body of Christ needs Spirit-filled men and women with a holy boldness!

Those of us who have been enabled by the Lord to shift through the growing wreckage of the crumbling Church in America recognize that at its Gnostic root this new evangelicalism is actually a very vicious attack on Reformed Theology, and most particularly the inerrancy and infallibility of Holy Scripture. Men and women, can’t you see it? This is the oldest lie the Devil has: “Yea, hath God said?” And if you really wish to recognize Satan’s strategy–which really never changes–you first look at what a person or group teaches about the Bible itself. Frankly, all the arguing about baptismal regeneration, the proper approach to other religions (all religion is false), whether women should be pastors, ad infinitum, ad nauseaum, which is going on in the Church today will come to a abrupt halt with a proper approach to God’s Word.

Let me share something of vital importance: Jesus gives us some critical information which–based on a gazillion denominations–has obviously been lost upon the Body of Christ. The Master said: “And if a house is divided against itself, that house will not be able to stand” (Mark 3:25, ESV). Now can you see who sent divisive men with little real regard for the Bible like, for example, Emergent Guru Brian McLaren and his friend Living Spiritual Teacher Richard Foster? The issue before us today is really pretty simple: Was the Reformation, which returned Christ’s Church back to being a Theocracy where our Lord rules through the authority of His Word in Holy Scripture, brought about by God the Holy Spirit? Or, was it instead a division in the Body of Christ brought about by mere men that we must now put behind us for the sake of presenting unity before the world?

Has God Spoken?

Years ago it was prophetically pointed out that battle is going to be for the Bible. You’d best decide for yourself–and soon–whether you are willing to stand on Christ’s side against these attacks by demonic forces on His Word because they are only going to escalate. Let me further illustrate what those of us in the discernment camp have been trying to warn you about concerning the very rapid apostasy sweeping through the Body of Christ as a spiritual wildfire. We take the dismal case of the Rev. Gene Robinson who is a practicing homosexual man, and amazingly is actually the Bishop of the Episcopal churches in my home state of NH. Yep, you read that right; this “Christian” minister openly practices a lifestyle clearly condemned by the very God he says he serves. The apostate Episcopal Church–and they are far from alone in this–by denying the final authority of Holy Scripture “feels” it’s perfectly acceptable to ordain unbelievers into positions of authority within Christ’s Church.

O now the Emergent howls arise: “How do you know ‘Bishop’ Robinson is not a believer in Christ?” One can just as easily turn this around: “How do you know whether he is?” They say: “You are being judgmental!” No, actually I’m not. I have no reason to doubt that Robinson considers himself someone who “believes in Christ,” but what I am saying–not judging by mere appearances and making a right judgment–is that he is not a true regenerated believer who is “in Christ.” This is a huge difference. You need to understand that if he doesn’t repent and give his life to Christ, then Gene Robinson remains on the broad road of religion which ends in Hell. In a current edition (June 15, 2006) of the local newspaper Valley News, there is an article by Annmarie Timmins called “Robinson Speaks Out For Gays in Church.” In it she tells us that “Bishop Gene Robinson is embracing what he calls his second ministry.”

Now just what noble service for the Body of Christ does this man–allegedly sent by Christ–feel “led” to accomplish for God? Why, “publicly advocating for the inclusion of gay and lesbian people in the Episcopal Church,” what else? Oh, and here’s an interesting bit of teaching from this openly sinning “Bishop” as he tells us that, “neither Jesus nor Scripture condemns homosexuals.” I’ll have more on this next time, but for our purposes here Timmins points out that tonight (June 15, 2006) “Robinson and the president of Integrity, a gay rights advocacy group within the church, are scheduled to appear on Larry King Live.” Are you starting to get the picture? The historic orthodox Christian view of the Bible was thrown out of this pathetic excuse for a Christian Church long ago and just look at the devastating result! We now have an unregenerate and flagrant sinner in a teaching position over other “pastors” (priests) and an “advocacy group” of unrepentant sinners working from within the Church.

And this lunacy in the Name of Christ is all directly related to a rejection of the inerrancy and infallibility of Holy Scripture. We’ll talk more about this in Part Two, but for now I tell you in the Lord that once we do away with the objective standard of the absolute Truth of God’s Word in the Bible all we have left is subjective “feelings” about what we think God has said. After looking down the barrel of the Devil’s gun, I’d like to echo something once said by Dr. Walter Martin. When he was first going into Salt Lake City to preach in the very church that Brigham Young himself once held sway in Martin received numerous death threats. His advisors tried to get him not to go but Dr. Martin replied: “If they do get me; just know this, I wouldn’t come back if I could.” And as this rising tide of emerging hypocrites from the ECoD continues to rail against God’s Word in Holy Scripture, they won’t have to look hard to find me because I’ll be the one holding up the Bible saying: “This is what the Lord says.”

Beloved, are you with me?
