THE SOUTHERN BAPTIST CONVENTION: NO YOU CAN’T, YES YOU CAN, NO WAIT…

Over at his The Expositor Mike Corley has an interesting take on the Slowly Becoming Catholic and their idol of autonomy to which they bow their knee. Corley asks the millions of wasted dollars question:

“If every Southern Baptist church is autonomous, and the denomination’s leadership cannot mandate what churches and members do, then why even bother to have a convention meeting, let alone introduce and debate resolutions?”

You see, for all their blether about evangelism the Soiled By Compromise is much more concerned with using autonomy for hiding from difficult doctrinal issues. Consider this: Allegedly the largest "Protestant" denomination in the US and their most visible pastor, Purpose Driven Pope Rick Warren, is openly promoting apostate Roman Catholicism as a Christian denomination.

Let’s see if we can help the SBC leaders in spiritual stupor to work this through. You are claiming to be "Protestants." And what do you suppose you are "protesting?" Um, could it be the empty authority of the Bishop of Rome and the false gospel of Christ plus baptism and the silly sacraments of the Roman Catholic Church? Why yes, I believe it is.

Absolutely, I am nothing and a "no-name." But I can tell you this; not all that long ago Phil Johnson of Pyromaniacs, someone I have much respect for and who is hardly to be considered a radical, was absolutely correct when he said:

that evangelicalism right now is at least as much in need of Reformation as Medieval Roman Catholicism was before Luther nailed his 95 Theses to the door of the castle church. We need to face that squarely,… (emphasis his)
