COMMUNION WITH OUTLAW PREACHER KHAD YOUNG

Apprising Ministries first mentioned outlaw preacher Khad Young, “Minister of Grace, Metamorphosis Church,” in Turning God’s Grace Into An Idol; and yes, I have spoken personally with him. As far as I could tell from our fairly lengthy conversation Khad is a pleasant young man and our discussion was actually quite amiable.

That aside, e.g. in Outlaw Preachers, Beer, And The Bible we told you that these self-described outlaw preachers are beginning to band together—chiefly around gay-affirming “pastor” Jay Bakker. In fact, Young mentioned to me that they will soon have their own Outlaw Preacher’s podcast, and has also informed us via Twitter that he’s currently:

Working with @jaybakker on the domain name and hosting. (Online source)

In the aforementioned Outlaw Preachers, Beer, And The Bible there’s a link to an Ann Arbor.com report where we’re told:

Khad (pronounced Chad) Young, founder of the church of sorts, calls himself an outlaw preacher. Young is the son of a Lutheran pastor, and he attended Lutheran schools his entire life. When he started college at Concordia University, he didn’t find himself “plugged in” to the activities on campus.

Inspired by Jay Bakker, son of televangelists Jim and Tammy Faye Bakker, Young set out to start a church he and his friends felt comfortable in… (Online source)

This would be Metamorphosis in Michigan, which Young has left in the hands of “pastors” Ben and Angie as he’s heading to LA to plant a Metamorphosis there. Today Young was asked to offer “a picture” of what a typical service of Metamorphosis would be like and sent the following reply:

Let me know if this very recent article http://bit.ly/D2eYG and listening to the podcast http://bit.ly/uwGWt don’t help. (Online source)

After speaking with Khad the other day, and being a pastor myself, I was curious about that as well. The first link takes the reader to a post where we find the Ann Arbor.com piece I quoted above; and the second link then takes us to:

The first ever communion service at Metamorphosis. Wherein we decide that Christ’s blood is a Burgundian Pinot, it’s good that the Egyptians holding Israel captive were not Lutheran, and I find the bleep button. Communion was served after the message. (Online source)

Now that I’ve had the opportunity to listen to a message from—and recommended by—one who would label himself an outlaw preacher following in the footsteps of the original outlaw preacher Jay Bakker, it seems good in the Lord to provide AM readers with the link to this “communion service at Metamorphosis.”

Here’s your chance to listen to outlaw preacher Khad Young, who’ll tell you within the message that he’s crazy about grace, share his message. In this way, we will simply let pastor Young speak for himself while you can then follow the example of the noble Bereans:

Now these were more noble-minded than those in Thessalonica, for they received the word with great eagerness, examining the Scriptures daily to see whether these things were so. (Acts 17:11, NASB)
