RICHARD ROHR: FOUR PHASES OF EMERGENCE CHRISTIANTY

But false prophets also arose among the people, just as there will be false teachers among you. (2 Peter 2:1)

Gather ‘Round Children And We’ll Tell You Lovely Stories You Already Wanted To Hear

Below you will hear “Father” Richard Rohr, purveyor of apostate Roman Catholicism and leading teacher of Contemplative Spirituality/Mysticism (CSM), expounding upon the so-called “new reformation” [read: counterfeit reformation] becoming known as Emergence Christianity. At its rotten root remains the emerging rebellion against sola Scriptura as evidenced in Apprising Ministries pieces such as Rob Bell And Emergence Christianity Reject Cardinal Doctrine Of Sola Scriputra and Peter Rollins And Phyllis Tickle On The Emergence Of A Brand New Religion.

In Who Is Richard Rohr? AM told you that in addition to being founder/director of Center for Action and Contemplation (CAC) Rohr’s  author of the book Everything Belongs: The Gift of Contemplative Prayer and even Emergence icon and contemplative Rob Bell himself recommends it as I showed you previously in Rob Bell In A Nutshell: Contemplative Mysticism. Those familiar with the original piece on “Roshi” Rohr will also know that back in January of 2008 Rohr was a “presenter” at a conference entitled Jesus and Buddha: Paths to Awakening, which was sponsored by his own CAC.

And completely in line with the supposed deep wisdom these messed-up mytic musers believe they receive while practicing Contemplative/Centering Prayer, a key component in the The New Spirituality, Rohr would teach the equality of Buddha with Christ and the indwelling of God in all things at that aforementioned conference:

The Four Noble Truths are the distilled essence of the Buddhist teaching. In this retreat, each of the Four Noble Truths will be introduced and explored, with emphasis given to the presence of each Noble Truth at the heart of Jesus’ call to awaken to God’s presence in every detail of our daily lives…

The teachings of both Jesus and Buddha call us to transformational honesty. They are both teaching us how to see, and how to see all the way through! They both knew that if you see God for yourself, you will see the Divine in all things. (Online source)

Then in Richard Rohr: Roman Catholicism And Christian Universalism, which contains the following exchange from an interview with Stephen Crittenden of The Religion Report on ABC Radio National, we see Rohr espousing the classic mystic doctrine of universalism:

Stephen Crittenden: Let me just finally give another example from the opposite side of the ledger. There’s a great term called universalism. And I guess at base it’s the idea that in the end, no-one’s in hell, everyone’s going to heaven, that the crucifixion ultimately saved everyone and God’s mercy will gather everyone according to some theologians even Judas and Satan in the end will be saved. Often hearing John Paul II I thought to myself Actually at base, he’s a Universalist. Some of the things Benedict has written suggests the same. I think the vast majority probably of Australian Catholics these days are Universalists.

Richard Rohr: In effect, yes. Well, you know –

Stephen Crittenden: Which doesn’t mean they know they’re going to heaven, but they hope that everybody, including the Buddhists and the Hindus and the Jews and the Muslims, everybody will be saved.

Richard Rohr: Isn’t that a marvellous act of trust in the mercy and victory of God. If we say God is victorious, what else would God’s victory be?  (Online source, emphasis mine)

Men and women, in The Emergence Convergence Apostasia-Poloosa I also brought to your attention the just concluded Conversations, Convergence and Action. This emerging event brought together and featured such notable false teachers as Roshi Rohr himself, Emergent Guru Brian McLaren, the Tony Campolo disciple Shane Claiborne, and Phyllis Tickle, the empress of Emergence, who came converging together in order to discuss the further spreading of this counterfeit form of Christianity.

In the video clip Rohr will talk about the “contemplative mind,” which some see it as a new evolution in mankind to a higher form of consciousness, but virtually all contemplatives agree that this transformation is attained through the transcendental mediation of the CSM I’ve been warning Christians about. And this spurious CSM, in actuality a new form of Gnosticism, is right now slithering right into your mainstream evangelical churches and youth groups. As such, it’s become imperitive that you really to begin to recognize its language and the theological agenda behind it.

Like a huge snake this Emergence is currently swallowing up ignorant evangelicals; and, in Contemplative Spirituality/Mysticism Aka Christian Meditation As “Common Ground”, I give you a little better understanding as to why “Progressive Christians” ala Marcus Borg or “Progressive Evangelicals” ala Tony Campolo or quasi-Christians directly involved with what was the Emergent Church like Guru Brian McLaren and his friend Living Spiritual Teacher and Quaker mystic  Richard Foster are all excited about meditation pow wows with other “faith traditions” aka interspiritual “dialogues.”

As you’ll see below, essentially we’re witnessing a reimagined version of liberalism’s quite ficticious Fatherhood of God, Brotherhood of Man, and social reform of whatever neighborhood you live in; it is, in very fact, a new form of liberalism. Like liberal theology was once called “modern theology”; so this postmodern theology is nothing more than a postliberalism. And just as its liberal forebears, seducing spirits with their own brand of CSM once killed the mainline denominations, likewise these postliberals with their own doctrines of demons will now murder the mainstream denominations.

Hear this; and you hear it well: You ignore this Emergence rebellion against sola Scriptura at your own peril; repent, and come away from the unclean thing…
