JAY BAKKER: ONE PUNK UNDER GOD AND THE EMERGING CHURCH

For the time will come when men will not put up with sound doctrine. Instead, to suit their own desires, they will gather around them a great number of teachers to say what their itching ears want to hear. They will turn their ears away from the truth and turn aside to myths. (2 Timothy 4:3-4)

Is Our Discernment Really So Low We Can't See The Fur Under The Fleece?

Are we looking at the new face of Christianity or the face of a new Christianity? In this piece you’ll hear “pastor” Jay Bakker of the neo-liberal cult of the Emergent Church say, “I run a church called Revolution.” As you’ll witness it brings the emerging church’s message of “grace and unconditional love." Bakker also says that one of the reasons he wanted to do this “documentary” was because, “The Christian right had co-opted Jesus, they had co-opted Christianity for the own agenda.”

Uh-huh, I see; so in true counter-culture fashion you relentlessly criticize those people you consider as “sell outs” (the ever mysterious “they”) all while taking advantage of the exact same forums which “they” allegedly sold out to use? Right. But Bakker is a special guy because he’s on record that God spoke to him personally and told him with this new emerging Grace that sin...well, is no longer really sin:

“The more I follow grace, the more I’m drawn to him [God], the more I’m willing to stand up for people being persecuted,” says Jay today. “This sounds so churchy, but I felt like God spoke to my heart and said ‘[homosexuality] is not a sin.’ ”

In the clip below Bakker goes on to inform us, “A lot of my friends don’t even want to be Christians anymore.” You know what Jay; let me go on record here at Apprising Ministries as saying it sure won’t bother me if people don’t call you and your friends Christian. I for one want absolutely nothing at all to do with the twisted man-centered new evangelical religion being advanced by your particular brand of Christ followers. And I personally dare say, neither does Jesus.
